This kid never ceases to amaze me. First of all, I still have no idea how he comes up with all of these creative and clever twists on all of his favorite pop culture icons. But if you look closely, he pays so much attention to detail. Every face has a different expression of emotion. Justin is so talented at portraying what's going on inside of a character's head and putting it onto their facial features.
I've always been impressed with Justin's affiliation with dates and numbers. Many individuals who are diagnosed with a form of Autism are found to extremely excel in a particular activity or subject. For example, Jason McElwain is famous for becoming a high school basketball wonder back in 2006 when he scored 20 points in the last four minutes of the season's last game. (see video here). Satoshi Tajiri, a man who was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome and had a fixation with bugs as a boy, later created the one of the most popular video game franchises in the world: Pokemon. There are countless stories of men and women diagnosed with forms of Autism being musical prodigies, top-ranking scientists, and genius mathematicians.
Justin has the gift of memorization. His artwork often reflects that gift. He will put lists of dates on the sides of his drawings and typically, these dates hold significance. For example, he has memorized the dates according to the birth & death of virtually every celebrity and US president. He can watch a movie he enjoys only one time and he will recite the script perfectly.
He even has a knack of easily picking up dance choreography... probably got that from his older sister! ;) I hope you enjoy this video of him dancing in front of a couple hundred people a few years ago to 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson. (One of his favorite songs!)
Ta-ta for now!
